Royal Mail, Farringdon, London
The Royal Mail Data Science team is continuously innovating in new approaches to Data Science. We already use a mix of Agile methodologies within an adaptation of the Lean Start-up framework to accelerate the delivery of value to the business, with maximum return on effort. With the team continuing to grow (around 20 Data Scientists) and the number of concurrent projects in flight increasing, monitoring and managing our complex Agile processes has now become a full-time job. We are therefore looking for an innovative and inspirational Lean Agile Coach to own and further revolutionise our Agile delivery processes and practice.
About the role
As a Lean Agile Coach, you'll primarily be involved in working with the Data Science team, developing and aligning best practice standards, processes and team culture with the strategic direction of the organisation; managing deviations, and effectively communicating solutions and their justification to relevant stakeholders.
You will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the innovative evolution and maturity of our Lean-Agile methodology, iteratively stretching the Data Science team's efficiency, creativity and effectiveness to the next level. You will coach, facilitate, collaborate and mentor at different levels (teams, managers, and stakeholders), proactively addressing distractions, disruptions, and obstacles so that the team is free to focus on producing Data Science solutions that will transform the business. You will monitor, share and evaluate delivery and measure progress to ensure value is delivered early and often.
You will champion a culture of knowledge sharing and learning to prevent silos developing, and foster a culture of responsibility and accountability. You will champion and embody the Lean-Agile core values and promote their usage across the organisation, acting as an Agile change agent both internally and externally.
You will be able to engage and excite teams about the benefits of a Lean and Agile approach. You are passionate about Lean and Agile principles without being dogmatic in their application, applying alternatives to Scrum (such as Kanban) where appropriate. You have a good knowledge of Lean and Agile frameworks and can apply various techniques effectively. You have a good knowledge of Agile Scaling frameworks (such as LeSS, SAFe and Nexus) and of Lean-Agile development tools and techniques.
You foster a team mentality encouraging collaboration around a shared goal. You have excellent influencing, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. In addition, you work effectively under pressure in a resilient and flexible manner.
Ideally, you will also have a recognized professional certification beyond the foundational Scrum Master certification.
