Support the Exhibitions and Interpretation team by planning, creating, delivering and maintaining exhibitions and interpretation across the zoo. This will include writing copy, briefs and tenders, content development, procurement, installation and ongoing maintenance of existing materials. Work collaboratively across the zoo to ensure project buy-in and input from Discovery and Learning, Curators, Field Programmes, Guest Experience, Maintenance and various other teams to achieve learning goals and achieve maximum conservation impact. Work with and support a wide range of stakeholders including artists, designers, printers, build manufacturers, AV companies, model makers, and exhibit designers, ensuring effective delivery of projects and value for money. Ensure excellent upkeep and maintenance of exhibitions and interpretation assets across site, including good record keeping, updating maintenance databases, replacing consumables and issuing out repair and maintenance works where necessary. Evaluate exhibitions and interpretation materials by conducting pre- and post- evaluation, ensuring continual improvement so that new projects are founded on quality evidence based research. The successful candidate will have: A degree qualification in a subject relevant to the zoo and/or interpretation is essential. Working knowledge of conservation, ecology and biology, field work would be an advantage. Experience developing interpretation in a zoo, aquarium, museum or similar environment is essential. Excellent research skills, including the ability to find, summarise and abridge information so that is both appealing to audiences and highly accurate. Demonstrable copy writing skills, including editing and proof-reading skills and the ability to write for a wide range of audiences, especially families. Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with a wide range of people with varying levels of technical and subject knowledge. Skilled in the use of all key Microsoft packages. It would be an advantage to be able to use Adobe and basic PC based graphics editing software. Excellent time management, administration and workload planning skills are essential. Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills. Ability to work proactively and effectively under own initiative and as part of an inter-disciplinary team and to work under pressure with a positive attitude. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday, with the occasional need for weekend and out of hours working.
